7 Dots

Kinetic Sculpture

  • Details

This kinetic sculpture is inspired by the work of Alexander Calder, the American sculptor who is best known for his innovative mobiles.

Through the years I have become particularly interested in kinetic sculptures and in creating gently moving graphical structures. Mobiles' appearance is always changing. They seem to have a life of their own and they are fascinating and surprising to look at. This sculpture is even more interesting as its shapes are painted with different finishes on both sides. I used colorful acrylic paint on one side and partly oxidized gold leaf on the other side.  As the mobile moves, the gold leaf catches the ambient light in an interesting way.

This piece is titled: “7 Dots” in reference to the 7 elements with which it is composed.

This very light sculpture is easily suspended with a simple open hook installed in the ceiling. It comes fully assembled.

Medium: Acrylic, Acrylic Paint, Gold Leaf

    Size: 68.58 cm (27") in width x 53.34 cm (21") in height.
